Solvability and PT −symmetry in a double-well model with point interactions
نویسنده
چکیده
The concept of point interactions offers one of the most suitable guides towards a quantitative analysis of properties of certain specific non-Hermitian (so called PT −symmetric) quantum-mechanical systems. This is illustrated on a double-well model, an easy solvability of which is shown to lead to a clear picture of the mechanisms of the unavoided level crossing and of the spontaneous PT symmetry breaking at a certain strong-non-Hermiticity boundary. Below this limit the model is shown suitable for an explicit illustration of technicalities related to the standard probabilistic physical interpretation of bound states in PT −symmetric quantum mechanics. We contemplate the pair of the purely imaginary delta-function potentials on a finite interval with Dirichlet boundary conditions. The two parameter model exhibits nicely the expected quantitative features of the unavoided level crossing and of a " phase-transition " com-plexification of the energies. Combining analytic and numerical techniques we investigate strength-and position-dependence of...
متن کاملExtended Jaynes-Cummings models and (quasi)-exact solvability
The original Jaynes-Cummings model is described by a Hamiltonian which is exactly solvable. Here we extend this model by several types of interactions leading to a nonhermitian operator which doesn’t satisfy the physical condition of space-time reflection symmetry (PT symmetry). However the new Hamiltonians are either exactly solvable admitting an entirely real spectrum or quasi exactly solvabl...
متن کاملOn the $c_{0}$-solvability of a class of infinite systems of functional-integral equations
In this paper, an existence result for a class of infinite systems of functional-integral equations in the Banach sequence space $c_{0}$ is established via the well-known Schauder fixed-point theorem together with a criterion of compactness in the space $c_{0}$. Furthermore, we include some remarks to show the vastity of the class of infinite systems which can be covered by our result. The a...
متن کاملSurprising spectra of PT -symmetric point interactions
Spectra of the second derivative operators corresponding to the special PT -symmetric point interactions are studied. The results are partly the completion of those obtained in [1]. The particular PT -symmetric point interactions causing unusual spectral effects are investigated for the systems defined on a finite interval as well. The spectrum of this type of interactions is very far from the ...
متن کاملNew types of solvability in PT symmetric quantum theory
The characteristic anti-linear (parity/time reversal, PT) symmetry of non-Hermitian Hamiltonians with real energies is presented as a source of two new forms of solvability of Schrödinger’s bound-state problems. In detail we describe (1) their very specific semi-exact solvability (SES) and (2) their innovated variational tractability. SES technicalities are discussed via charged oscillator exam...
